WSET LEVEL 1
Introduction of WSET Course — Wines & Education Trust School of London:
- WSET qualification provides a hands-on introduction to the world of wine.
- You’ll explore the main types and styles of wine through sight, smell, and taste, while also gaining the basic skills to describe wines accurately, and make food and wine pairings.
- Upon successful completion you will receive a WSET Course certificate and lapel pin.
Objectives of WSET Course Level 1 :
- Understand the main types & styles of wine
- Learn the characteristics of the common principle grape varieties
- Know how to store & serve the wine
- Understand the basic principles of food & wine pairing
- Systematic Approach to Tasting of different wines
Course Deliver:
This qualification has a minimum requirement of six hours of study time, in a classroom or online, with a WSET course provider.
Course will be in English Language.

- Sovna’s first steps into the wine industry began with an internship in France in a Michelin starred Relais & Chateaux property.
- After moving to London, she worked with Benares, an Indian Michelin starred restaurant as the Assistant Head Sommelier for over 2 years.
- While there, she successfully completed the Level 3 Advanced course in wines & spirits and the wine educators training from WSET, graduating with merit.
- She has successfully completed the Level 4 Diploma in Wines & Spirits from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET), London in April 2018.
- This makes her one of a handful of Indians who hold this qualification.
The course (WSET Course) will be followed by assessment.
Assessment:
Assessment is by a closed-book exam of 30 multiple-choice questions.
Candidate need to Score 70 mark out of 100 to clear the exam.
